Licensing and credits

Text in the wiki is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). You may copy and adapt it with attribution to paxabyssi.com and its contributors, and share-alike. Contributors also license their contributions to the Pax Abyssi team for use in the game and its materials, as the terms of use state.

The game's catalogue is derived from the HYG Database by David Nash, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. The project's corrections and every dataset built on it, including the web galaxy map and orrery data, are derivatives and carry the same licence.

Corrections draw on: Gaia Data Release 3 (this work has made use of data from the European Space Agency mission Gaia, processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium); the Hipparcos and Tycho catalogues (ESA 1997); the Extended Hipparcos Compilation, XHIP (Anderson and Francis 2012); and the Washington Double Star Catalog, maintained at the United States Naval Observatory.

Pulsars: the ATNF Pulsar Catalogue (Manchester, Hobbs, Teoh and Hobbs 2005), version 2.8.1. Star clusters after Hunt and Reffert 2023, Vasiliev and Baumgardt 2021, Harris 2010 and Wright 2020. Exoplanet hosts from the NASA Exoplanet Archive.

Captures from Pax Abyssi are copyright the Pax Abyssi team. They may be used in coverage of the game with the credit line shown beside each image. They may not be presented as anything other than Pax Abyssi.

Where the wiki or an article shows a real photograph, the credit appears on its own line under the caption, and the licence is one of these:

• NASA images are generally not copyrighted and are credited as NASA with the mission or centre named.
• ESA/Webb and ESA/Hubble images are CC BY 4.0 and credited as the agency states.
• ESO images are CC BY 4.0 and credited to ESO with the named observers.
• Other esa.int images are used only where marked Creative Commons.

Science features, devlogs and news are copyright the Pax Abyssi team. Quotation for review and comment is welcome with a link.
