Asteroid belt
A ring of rocky and icy bodies left over from planet formation, shaped by the resonances of nearby giant planets. The Sun's Main Belt, between Mars and Jupiter, holds about 3 percent of the Moon's mass spread through a volume so large that its asteroids are millions of kilometres apart.
